Our Story
“This cookie looks like a muffin!” It’s funny, I never really considered myself a baker. I’ll never forget my very first attempt at a chocolate chip cookie, the end result almost resembled a cookie but it would probably be more accurate to call it a cookie muffin that may have had a slight cardboard flavoring to it. Needless to say it wasn’t amazing, but a love for baking was created. Lucky for you, the cookies have come a long way since their “muffin” days, a very long way. My love for baking and experimenting with different recipes never died.
“Cookies and Accounting… now that makes sense.” The Cookie Chew began with a passion for cookies and a desire for creativity that just couldn’t be satisfied in the world of Accounting. When I was in school, I wasn’t really taught to follow my passions but to “pursue what is practical” or “what you’re good at” and “what will land you the best job when you graduate?” For some, it’s all one and the same, which is fabulous, but for me it just didn’t work out that way. It was a joyous occasion when I could put down the calculator and the life-behind-a-computer and picked up a spatula and made a floury mess! It’s a long jump from Accounting to baking cookies, but I believe in my passion and living a life where I can risk it all for a greater reward, a sweeter life.
For Peace
It was a trip to Africa that changed my life. Experiencing a country devastated by war, with little to no modern technology but filled with an incredible joy and love for one another. My perspective on what this life is all about is forever altered.
